Galapagos Part 1

this is a three part story Galapagos Part 2 | Galapagos Part 3 | Galapagos on a Budget

Thanks so much to Tracy Copeman for sharing her trip notes on the Galapagos

I booked my flight before hand as the price was good $249 each. It is cheaper with a cedula. When Pete’s friend was here a few months back I could not book her flight. I ended up having the tour company book her flight along with a cruise. Her flight cost the same as online.

I booked a cruise 1 week before we left. I booked with this tour company in Quito. All via email and went to the bank to deposit the funds directly into their account.

I decided not to book a last minute cruise once on the island as I wanted a Western itinerary. All the info I was getting from different tour companies did not have the itinerary we wanted. With the research I did, you see much more wildlife on the western side. And boy I saw lots!

We also wanted a smaller boat, max 16 passengers. We ended went on the

We did the 8d/7n. The only thing not included is alcohol. Sometimes the snorkel gear isnt either. I had 1 email that said it was and another that said it wasn’t included. I conveniently showed the captain the email they said the snorkel gear was included. ?

We payed $1680 each for the 8 days. Again this was booked 5 days before the cruise date. It was in February.
The food was delicious and the crew great. The boat needed touch ups but for the price I was super happy.

We stayed a total of 18 days and did 2 day tours. We also took the “ ferry” they are speed boats and stayed on San Cristobal for a few days.
There are many free things to do in San Cristobal and Puerto Ayoro. But if you get a good deal on a boat it is cheaper than doing day trips. Plus you see so much more.

It is a busy itinerary. We did 2 snorkels a day plus 2 walks a day. You are in bed after dinner.
