Just an FYI about bus service from the Quito airport. There are buses now that go from the airport to the Carcelén terminal in north Quito, and vice versa. After you exit the airport baggage/customs area, you should see public transportation on the right. There are three buses: The silver bus is the one to Carcelén (which has service to Otavalo and Ibarra). The two green buses go to the Rio Coca (central) terminal and Quitumbe (south) terminal. Bus fare is $2 and the trip takes 45 minutes.
