Most beds here do not have box springs, they are on wooden slats (not comfy at all).
We brought down a Q Aerobed (elevated) Costco has them pretty reasonable – again fits in a suitcase!! The place we were renting when we first got here had a full bed (hubby is 6ft 2in) – had a frame built for it for less than $100 – its like a regular bed (just had guests use it) might be an option? Should mention the frame comes apart and stores in the closet – had it built in less than two days!
Now that we have a regular bed – we made a point on a trip down to bring a 2.5 in topper for the mattress, fabulous! Fits in a suitcase also with room for 10lbs more (we used a light weight duffle) – sleep is a good thing!
