President Correa said the government will eliminate taxes on the box office for live entertainment to encourage more big name artists to come to the country. He said promoters currently lose 52% of their profits because of municipal and central government taxes. Many big name entertainers often bypass Ecuador, performing instead in Colombia, Peru and other South American countries.
